AT RAINBOW COMMUNITY SCHOOL

574 Haywood Street Asheville

Everyone, from the beginner to the accomplished artist is confronted by the constant question in art: what’s the next challenge? Often it is to unwind and loosen line allowing accidents and experiments to happen. What happens if collage meets charcoal? Paint meets graphite? Ink intrudes upon pencil? This class will build upon your drawing and compositional skills and allow you to explore combining media and subjects, work reductively and collaboratively, and learn new techniques and practices that enhance your work. But most of all, you’ll remember the importance of play and the element of surprise as you work! You’ll elaborate and expand on your usual methods, and allow chance and spontaneity to inform and guide you into energizing your work and leading it into new directions. Media include wet and dry drawing media, water-based paint, ink, and collage. For all skill levels. Fee is $175.
